Speaking of Lists...

Things I've Done This Week I Didn't Think I Had It In Me to Do:
  1. Held two babies in two weeks and actually enjoyed it.
  2. Spent several hours with my immediate family (parents and sibs) and actually found them crass and annoying in addition to irritating as Hell, but didn't voice my opinion on such.
  3. Gave myself a French manicure. And it doesn't look half bad. And I also removed the 4-month old red nailpolish from my big toes (it chipped off the others long ago). Wowza.
  4. Had one of those "annual exam" things I hate. I think the last one was a month after my son was born, so that's a little more than 4 years ago. I just hate being in that position--well, with anyone other than the person I'm having sex with, ha. Seriously--they always treat you like you're a confused 16 year old girl, no matter how "upscale" the clinic. I dig the questionnaires: "Is someone hurting you or threatening to hurt you?" "Do you feel safe in your current relationship?" Are you kidding me? Like anyone in that position would answer those questions honestly. And the questions they ask you in person: "Do you do self-breast checks?" No, that's what my fiance is for. "Do you smoke?" Quite a bit when I'm on fire, yes. Does anyone want to answer those questions honestly and risk the lecturing by someone who isn't even a relative? Come on, I'm 33 years old and have a kid already--I'm very much aware of what kind of risks I'm taking. Just give me my damned shot and let me go back to work. Oh, it wasn't really so awful once they got underway--possibly one of the shortest I've ever endured in my sporadic history of getting them. The worst part was probably a toss-up between having to spend a half hour in the lobby watching "The View" and having to step on a scale and see how much weight I've gained since May. (Only about 10 pounds, but considering how hard I worked to lose that 20, it pisses me off to have gained half of it back.)
  5. Went shopping and didn't buy anything. My parents gave me a $50 Target gift card--TARGET, people--and when I was there yesterday, I couldn't think of a single thing I felt I would die without. I'm refusing to buy any more clothes until I'm thinner (and it's warmer), so that eliminated an entire department. (Two, counting shoes.) But now that I'm back in my office, I'm looking at my bare walls and thinking a nice magnet or corkboard or two (and maybe that organizer that was on sale that I was eyeballing) would fit the bill.
  6. Gave my intended a BJ while my son watched "Tiny Planets" in the living room. Snap!
