So Your Girlfriend Drives a Honda...
Why, yes. Yes, I do drive a Honda. (I don't play workout tapes by Fonda, however, and I mos def have a motor in the back of mine.)
I got my Honda when Bob was 3 months old. It was the end of January, and Kansas City got hit with a big nasty ice storm. And my car, a Geo Metro I had only paid off 6 months prior, got hit with a big nasty piece of my neighbor's tree. Funny thing about Geos--they don't appreciate much. So after I got my insurance settlement (a whole $1200), I had to find something..."economical." (Read: cheap.)
Enter the 1996 Honda Accord.
At the time, it was only six years old. And it had been very well cared for. Sun and moon roof, CD player AND cassette deck??? Shut up! Power this, power that, and clean as a whistle--finally, I had a real grown-up car.
My grown-up car is now 11. It's not nearly as pretty as it was five years ago. But I can honestly say I've barely looked at it in that time, and it purrs like a kitten. I've never had to replace anything major (knock knock knock on wood), I've never had to Ask Patty, and I've never been stranded in the middle of nowhere. Since I got the air conditioning fixed this spring (stupid leaking valve--$150), it's been The Perfect Car. It ain't the prettiest thing on the road, but it's mine, it's paid for, and it's reliable.
The one thing it's not? Roomy. Which makes me a little uneasy as I sit here and wonder how I'm going to fit two car seats in the back come summer...

Love the reference to Sir Mixalot. I just heard that song on the radio yesterday, too. I've heard great things about Hondas. It's always a good thing to have reliable transportation that's for sure.
OMG, are congratulations in order? Were the home tests inaccurate? Is Bob in for a sister/brother?
HUH? TWINS?
Love it. I started to write for that but decided not to.... I feel so lacking sometimes as a "writer"... In quotes because I'm not a writer.
Congrats! I had a Neon once upon a time that I loved.... had to get rid of it when I got the second car seat. Whah. I hope you don't have to!
