Make Room for Baby (Part I)
"That rug really tied the room together."
I finally came to realize that the crib/changer combo I've been seeking must be like the holy grail or something, i.e., one must be pure at heart in order to find it. Since I am neither pure at heart nor overly patient, I shifted gears and decided to go with the "Nursery In a Box" by the same manufacturer. Instead of a crib/changer hooked together, this set comes with a crib, changing table and 4-drawer dresser, all for the low low price of $200. Some assembly required.
So Bob and I ventured to Wal-Mart yesterday (every time I enter that store, I swear it's for the final time), bought the Nursery In a Box, and let Ben haul it inside and upstairs while we went to Super Target (mostly to get the taste of Wal-Mart out of my mouth). While we were there, I found the biggest, fluffiest blue rug I've ever seen, and since it was $40 less than the one my mother offered to buy for the bambino's room, I snatched it. Along with a couple of curtain rods and some additional fish decals.
I have to admit, for the price, this set is pretty damned awesome. It doesn't look dreadfully cheap and nothing wobbles. Pictures to follow.
In other news, it's Day 3 for Bob's new medication, and I'm glad tomorrow's a school day because I'm anxious to see how he fares. I was told it could make him drowsy and if it did, we could switch to nighttime dosing instead of morning. I might do that, because for the past two mornings (Saturday and Sunday, no less) he's been up at the ass crack of dawn and then couch-ready for the rest of the day. Yesterday, he did make it through two shopping trips with me, and then played outside with the neighbor kids for an hour or so, but by 6:00, he was ready to crash. Today he's been slightly perkier, but still seems like he'd rather be napping than anything. That said, he's been much more mellow and agreeable and a shitload less defiant and argumentative, so as long as this is just a short-term side effect, I'll take it.
